A pair of friends from the north of Scotland are about to embark on a holiday to eastern Europe after finishing their degree in engineering from Aberdeen University.
Molly Gordon, from Macduff and Emily Mowat from Buckie, met on the chemical engineering course and decided to embark on a spur-of-the-moment trip while struggling for motivation in the library at one point.
Miss Gordon said: “We’re heading off on Tuesday for a three-week trip. We’re going to Montenegro, Slovakia, Croatia and Serbia.
“It all came about after we had been in the library for days and wanted to plan a holiday.
“We looked at a map of Eastern Europe and then planned where to go.”
The pair have been extremely active outside the lecture room during their time in Aberdeen.
They were the first women to join the weightlifting club and Miss Gray picked up a silver medal in the Scottish Universities and Colleges Championship last year.
Miss Mowat was also a redoubtable member of the boat club and competed at the British University and Colleges Sport competition.
Miss Gordon will return from the holiday to start work as a brewing operations graduate with Heineken in Manchester and Miss Mowat will take up a role with the Unilever Future Leaders Programme, which is based all across England.
