A man has been seriously injured, following an “unprovoked” attack in a Moray town.
The 21-year-old suffered injuries to his face after being assaulted in the early hours of the morning in Lossiemouth.
Police are now reviewing CCTV footage of the incident and are appealing for witnesses who were leaving pubs at the time to come forward.
The attack, which left the victim needing hospital treatment at Dr Gray’s, happened on Stotfield Road in Lossiemouth at about 1.20am on Saturday, June 24.
Police explained the assault appeared to be “unprovoked”.
Constable Lisa Gauld said: “In particular, we want to trace and speak to a group of individuals who we believe were in the area at the time.
“It would have been closing time for many of the pubs and we know from inquiries thus far that numerous people were walking in the vicinity.
“Violence in any form will not be tolerated, especially in generally safe areas like this where incidents of this nature are rare. Extensive inquiries, including reviewing local CCTV are ongoing.”
Anyone with information should contact police by phoning 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
