Emergency crews have been scrambled to a “very serious” crash in Moray.
An air ambulance, three fire units, three paramedic crews and six police vehicles are all currently in attendance on the A941 Elgin road just north of Rothes.
The vehicles involved are understood to be a white Volkswagen van and a silver Mitsubishi SUV.
One eyewitness described the scene as “very serious” and said one of the vehicles had left the road completely before going down into the embankment.
A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue service confirmed cutting equipment had been used to free at least one trapped individual.
They added: “We received a call from the Scottish Ambulance Service at around 12.52pm. Units from Rothes, Aberlour and Dufftown attended.”
The road between Fogwatt and Rothes remains closed with diversions in place.
A spokeswoman for Police Scotland confirmed officers are still at the scene.
