One of Scotland’s most famous movie stars swapped Trainspotting for plane-spotting on a recent trip to RAF Lossiemouth.
Ewan McGregor’s brother Colin works at the Moray base, and the actor regularly stops by to marvel at its range of aircraft.
His latest visit coincided with that of fundraiser Colin Pemberton – and the pair bonded over their shared passion for motorcycling.
Mr Pemberton is travelling anti-clockwise around the Scottish coast on his Suzuki Intruder, to raise money for the Combat Stress charity.
He was riding from RM Condor, near Arbroath, towards Fort George, near Inverness, when he stopped in at RAF Lossiemouth.
Mr Pemberton was stunned when he bumped into Mr McGregor as he toured the base that same day.
In addition to his acting fame, the 46-year-old star is known for being passionate about motorcycling.
For the Long Way Round TV show, he biked 20,000-miles in 115 days on his BMW GS R1150.
And Mr McGregor wished Mr Pemberton the best of luck as he continued his own mammoth challenge.
The actor, who rose to fame in 1996 film Trainspotting, later posed for photographs with both the fundraising champion and Warrant Officer Al Milligan.
Mr McGregor has previously flown from Lossiemouth in a Tornado jet piloted by his brother, and backed a campaign to spare the base from closure in 2010.
Combat Stress helps military veterans deal with mental health problems brought on by their time in service.
Mr Pemberton, who lives in Newcastle, was inspired to take on his mission when he met a friend of his son, who has been helped by the charity since leaving the Army with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
On his online fundraising page, he wrote: “I’m doing this challenge in order to raise money for Combat Stress.
“I chose this charity as my son’s close friend suffers from PTSD.
“He had near misses with two IEDs [intermittent explosive devices] and Combat Stress helps him.
“So it’s a big shout out to everyone and anyone able to help these lads and lasses, who seem to be forgotten.”
By the end of the crusade, he will have travelled 2,400 miles.
