Concerns have been raised after a bald man in his 50s approached three children in Moray.
Police are investigating “suspicious incidents” after someone with a similar description tried to talk to the youngsters on two separate occasions in locations at opposite ends of the region.
Officers were alerted to a teenage boy being approached while outside in the St Leonards Road area of Forres on Sunday between 3pm and 3.30pm.
A man with a similar description had earlier approached two young girls in the Cliff Street area of Findochty on Friday between 8pm and 8.30pm.
On both occasions the man was driving a green car on the residential streets.
Yesterday police appealed for information from anyone who saw the driver or vehicle acting suspiciously in the area at those times.
Last night Buckie councillor Gordon Cowie said it was concerning to hear about children being approached during the school summer holidays.
He said: “It will be a worrying thing for parents to hear, particularly at this time of year when children are playing outside a lot.
“I just hope that parents drum it into their kids that they shouldn’t speak to strangers and they should tell someone responsible when it happens.
“It’s strange it’s happened in two places that are quite spread out. The police must be confident there’s a connection though.”
Detective Inspector Alan Armitt said: “Anyone who saw this vehicle or man in either area during the dates and times provided should contact police as inquiries continue into establishing the exact circumstances of each incident.”
Anyone with information should phone 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
