Police have launched an investigation after a couple approached two young girls in a seaside Moray village.
Officers yesterday appealed for the public’s help in piecing together the circumstances behind the incident, which took place in Portknockie last Friday.
The children, aged nine and 13, were approached at about 8pm at the junction of the A942 road, between Buckie and Cullen, and Seafield Terrace.
Police are keen to trace a man and woman, thought to be in their 20s or 30s, who spoke to the girls as they played near to the road.
The adult pair were in a silver coloured car which made off towards Cullen.
The man is described as having short dark hair, and was wearing a black top. The woman has been described as having long blonde hair and was wearing a white top and black cardigan, and had sunglasses on her head.
Investigating officer, Constable Joe Jacques, said: “The children were not injured during this incident, however we would like to trace the man and woman involved to establish the exact circumstances.”
People in the area at the time have been urged to get in touch with police, by calling 101 or by calling the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111 if they would prefer to remain anonymous.
