A woman was left horrified after a man flashed at her while she was walking near a castle on the outskirts of a Moray village.
The 49-year-old, who cannot be identified, was walking beside Balvenie Castle near Dufftown when the incident happened on Wednesday night.
The driver approached her before fleeing the scene when another vehicle appeared on the road at about 8pm.
She said: “I was out alone at about 8pm walking from the Low Road along Station Road just at Balvenie Castle.
“I do that route regularly, about two or three times a week.
“A car went past in the opposite direction, turned at the end of the road, came up behind me and the guy said something absolutely disgusting to me.”
The woman said the driver then exposed himself while he was in the vehicle.
He drove off towards Dufftown when another vehicle appeared behind him on the road.
She added: “I didn’t catch the registration of his car, unfortunately, as I was too shocked, but I think it was a white Fiesta van. It’s not a nice experience and not something you expect to happen in Dufftown. I was shocked.”
The fitness enthusiast said she was concerned about the flasher coming back to find her after he disappeared.
She has since heard from another local resident that a similar incident happened in Elgin last week.
She said: “When I was walking up the road, I wondered every time I heard another car whether it was going to be him again.
“I don’t think I’ll be going out again for a few nights.
“It won’t put me off though, I will go out again but maybe just earlier before it starts to get dark.
“I wanted to warn other women because it is a small place and there are a lot of women going out walking or running on their own.”
The woman described the man as being aged in his 30s with dark brown hair and a medium build.
Police confirmed inquiries are being carried out.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “It has been reported to the police.
“The man was in a white Fiesta-type van and made indecent comments and was carrying out an indecent act on himself.”
Police appealed for anyone with any information on the vehicle or the driver to come forward.
