Two men have been attacked in broad daylight in a Moray town centre.
The 18 and 20-year-old victims were assaulted by a group of men on Forres High Street near the North Street junction.
One of the men sustained an injury to the face as a result of the attack.
Constable Donal Brown said: “This was a senseless attack which will not be tolerated.
“I’m particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident and who may be able to identify or describe any of the persons responsible or have heard anything that was being said.
“There was also a black Renault Clio stopped on the High Street at the time of the incident. Anyone who recalls seeing the vehicle or the incident is asked to contact us.
“As a result of the incident one of the victims sustained a facial injury, whilst the other victim was uninjured. Violence of this nature is unacceptable so I am keen to trace those responsible as soon as possible.”
The incident happened at about 4pm on Sunday. Anyone with information should contact police by phoning 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
