A Moray company is expanding and hiring new staff after landing a funding boost.
Pozzi and Bijou by the Sea are refurbishing their four premises after securing more than £100,000.
It is expected that the upgrades will create four new jobs across the region.
Yesterday David Robertson, co-owner of the businesses, explained the boost would also help his company plan for the future by diversifying.
Pozzi’s original store on Buckie’s High Street has been refitted with a new kitchen in order to provide food.
The firm’s other site on the same street has benefitted from repairs and new frontages.
Elgin-based Bijou has expanded its lines while the Portessie store has been extensively refurbished with new floors, toilets and kitchen.
The companies secured the finance for the ambitious projects through a HSBC loan designed for small and medium businesses.
Mr Robertson said: “The support has allowed us to put our future growth plans into action. Importantly, we’ve been able to diversify our offering.
“With our core business of news and stationery coming under modern day pressures it was very important to reposition the business for many years to come.
“We’re excited by the increase in customers in a challenging retail climate. Hopefully, our new offerings will attract visitors and locals.”
Susan Rowand, HSBC’s head of business banking in Scotland, said: “It’s fantastic to see a long-serving family business of nearly 30 years continue to contribute to the local economy through more services and new jobs.”
