A woman has been charged in connection with an alleged hit and run in a Moray village.
Kerry McGregor was horrified when she noticed her blue Ford Focus, which had been left outside her house on Land Street in Rothes, was badly damaged.
She scoured CCTV footage showing the front of her property to see what had happened, and uploaded it online.
The clip shows the passenger side of a silver Vauxhall Corsa crashing into the passenger side of her car.
The impact of the collision was enough to lift the front of the Vauxhall Corsa from the road, and to leave Miss McGregor’s car damaged beyond repair.
The video Miss Gregor put online was seen by thousands of people on social media, and on the Press and Journal’s website, over the weekend.
Yesterday afternoon, Miss McGregor received word from the police that a woman has been charged in connection with the incident.
Miss McGregor said last night: “The police said thanks to the Press and Journal, and everyone sharing my video, the person has come forward about the accident.
“It is a massive relief for me.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed that a 54-year-old woman had been charged with causing the crash, and failing to stop afterwards.
She added that a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal, but it is not yet known when she will appear in court.
The incident took place at 11.33am on Monday, September 11.
