Filmmakers have issued an appeal for a Moray youngster to take the starring role in a forthcoming movie set in the region.
The short film, entitled I Was Here, has been written by Elgin woman Morna Pearson and is due to begin production in the town in November.
The black comedy tells the story of 12-year-old Isla, a girl who “wants to be heard, but who no-one is listening to”.
The production team wants a local child to play the lead part – and says that previous acting experience is not essential.
Applicants need not be 12, though casting bosses say it is essential that they be “entirely convincing as a 12-year-old”.
Producers are also keen to cast as many locals as possible in other roles, to add to the authenticity of the film.
Ms Pearson said: “I Was Here is set in Elgin, the town I grew up in and the place where my imagination continues to grow and explore.
“It’s an area of Scotland rarely represented on screen, but an area with just as rich characters and stories to tell as any.”
And she explained that the role of Isla will include plenty of challenges for the budding star selected, as the character faces up to some “adult responsibilities”.
The plot involves her making a “gruesome discovery”, and seizing upon it as a chance to make some money.
Director Joe Carter, added: “It will be great to bring Elgin to the silver screen.”
I Was Here was commissioned by the Scottish Film Talent Network, a scheme funded by Creative Scotland and the British Film Institute.
