Moray Council has been urged to provide sandbags to a village affected by recent floods.
Roads and access to homes were left under water in Cummingston last month following heavy rain in the area.
However, residents in the village were concerned sandbags were not supplied to let them fight back to defend their homes.
Now Moray MSP Richard Lochhead has written to the chief executive of the local authority to press for a review of procedures.
He said: “There appears to be a real problem in Cummingston with the drains being unable to cope with the pressure of heavy rainfall and the water that runs off nearby fields.
“I understand from the community that sandbags have been provided in the past to alleviate the impact of surface water – but that this no longer happens.
“As a short term solution I think it’s important that the council provides this support to people.”
Mr Lochhead stressed that a long-term solution to streets flooding in Cummingston also needs to be found.
A Moray Council spokeswoman said: “We’ll be looking at various options for reducing the risk of flooding in Cummingston and we’re happy to work with the community to build resilience in dealing with floods.”
