A group of redoubtable fundraisers who braved the cold of the North Sea on Boxing Day have raised nearly £10,000 for charity.
Residents of Burghead have been making the dip into the water at the same time every year for three decades.
And, on December 26, more than 65 people donned their swimming trunks and shorts and clambered into the sea.
Despite the cold conditions, the organisers have now revealed that £9,500 has been raised from the Burghead Boxing Day Swim.
They have confirmed they will give £3,000 to Bairns of Burghead Primary, £2,500 to Prostate Scotland, £2000 to Moray Sea School Memorial and £2000 to Moray Fresh Start.
Last night organiser Jamie Campbell revealed he was thrilled at the efforts of the participants.
He said: “We are very pleased with this. It was sleety and snowing on the day, so we were delighted with the turnout and the amount the swimmers raised.”
He went on to explain the reason why they had opted to give most of the funding to Bairns of Burghead Primary.
He added: “Everyone in Burghead is connected with the school and knows about the cutbacks they have been having.
“The parent association is trying their best to find things they shouldn’t have to find.
“We know that the money we give will not just benefit children at the school now, but the children who go there in the future.”
And he revealed planning has already begun for the next swim ten months hence
