Five competitive climbers from the north-east are dreaming of appearing in the Olympics after being selected for a Scotland squad.
Aberlour pair Natalie Taylor and Rhys Taylor, together with Elgin’s Duncan Brown and Lorna Brown and Will Bain, from Whitehills near Banff, will join climbers from the south to make up the nation’s young development team.
Indoor competitive climbing will be among four new sports making their Olympic debut in Tokyo in two years.
The Moray team has recovered from a recent blow when their previous training base in Elgin shut. Fresh facilities were sourced for the group in Lossiemouth by the charity Outfit Moray.
Chief executive Tony Brown said: “They’ve all done fantastically well. It really is a testament to their hard work and training.”
