A Moray teenager has been charged in connection with a fire started in an abandoned house.
Police were called to Keith in the early hours of Saturday morning after reports of the derelict dwelling being seen alight.
Yesterday it was revealed that a 16-year-old male from the local area has been charged following the alleged wilful fire-raising.
Police have, however, insisted that their investigation remains on-going following the call out.
Inspector Neil Campbell has urged anyone who has information about the fire to come forward and speak to officers.
He said: “Fortunately no one was injured as a result of this incident. However, it goes without saying that this could have been far more serious.
“Inquiries remain on-going and we would ask that anyone who saw anything unusual of suspicious in the area during the evening of Friday, into the early hours of Saturday, get in touch.”
Smoke damage can be seen on the exterior of the building on Moss Street, which is next to the town’s Tesco supermarket.
It is understood that the home has been abandoned for several years. Entrances to the property have now been boarded up to prevent intruders from gaining access to the building.
No damage has been reported to any of the neighbouring properties on the A96 Moss Street in the town.
The fire started at about 12.30am on Saturday. Anyone with information should contact police by calling 101.
