A Moray hotel has been declared bankrupt putting a number of weddings in jeopardy.
Rumours began circulating this week that the Mansion House Hotel and Country Club in Elgin was in financial trouble.
Now the Accountancy In Bankruptcy (AIB), Scotland’s insolvency service, has confirmed trading has suspended after the owners, David and Maria Baker, were taken to court.
HMRC lodged a petition in October over unpaid bills and approved at Elgin Sheriff Court last week.
Accountancy firm Wylie and Bisset have now been enlisted to examine the state of the business whether the hotel can continue to operate in the future.
AIB has urged anyone who has bookings with the hotel to contact Wylie and Bisset.
The owners have still to respond to requests for comments.
