A group of north-east rowers had a lucky escape yesterday after their vessel capsized off the shore of a north town.
The party had embarked on their journey into the North Sea from Burghead in the morning, but quickly discovered that their boat was taking on water.
Their problems intensified when it capsized shortly afterwards and the group all found themselves in the cold water.
They required assistance from the coastguard, which was called to the scene shortly after the incident happened.
Last night, the chairman of the Burghead Coastal Rowing Club confirmed theY were able to feel sand beneath their feet as soon as they entered the water.
This meant the emergency services were not required.
The coastguard added that there were no injuries sustained among the rowers involved.
