Budding game designers from across Scotland flocked to the north-east to try their skills in a 48-hour pressure test.
Moray College hosted its fifth game jam this weekend, where more than a dozen teams of coders and artists came together to collaborate over new projects.
At noon on Friday the participants were given a theme of “A world without…” which they had to create a video or board game around, and were given exactly two days to complete their projects.
While food was provided, the scores of participants were told to take their own sleeping bags and duvets, and just had to nap whenever they could in order to make the most of their tight deadline.
Organiser Jacqui Taylor said: “They all need to focus as they’ve only got 48 hours so it can be quite intense at times.”
The organisers have attracted a number of partner organisations including Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and game publisher Hunted Cow, with representatives from each helping to judge the entries.
Close to 80 people attended this weekend’s events, including some who travelled from Dundee and Abertay universities to participate.
Ms Taylor said: “We certainly attract people from all over the country.
“It’s good for Moray to have something like this, because there’s nothing similar north of Dundee, as far as we’re aware.”
Amanda Millen, from broadcasting company Screen Hi, one of the Game Jam partners, said: “The camaraderie and sheer level of creativity has just been fantastic.
“The teams all help each other out nd they’re all just decent people.
“I think we have established this as the game jam to go to, not just up here but it’s in the diary for a lot of games in Scotland and further afield.
“It just goes from strength to strength.”
The Games Jam was designed to encourage more people to consider a career in games development.
A number of industry experts led a series of free workshops throughout Saturday on topics ranging from project management to artificial intelligence, while members of the public were invited to try out some of the newly-created games yesterdy afternoon.
