Gardens and estates in Moray are expecting a blossoming start to the summer tourist season with the launch of a flower show.
Gordon Castle at Fochabers and Brodie Castle are both taking part in the nationwide Rhododendron Festival.
The event aims to encourage tourists to go to some of Scotland’s most beautiful and historic gardens during the flower’s blooming period.
Visitors to Gordon Castle will get to see the spectacular red and white hues at the attraction’s highland games on May 20 while Brodie Castle’s display stands alongside other spring bulbs and shrubs.
Rhododendrons come from a huge family of about 1,000 species ranging from small bushes to huge tree-like specimens and can flower from February through to August.
Curator David Knott said: “Rhododendrons make such a significant contribution to Scottish gardens and really do provide fantastic displays.
“Many will have already begun to bloom in gardens across the country, despite the recent bad weather we have experienced this spring.”
Jo Robinson, regional director of Visit Scotland, said: “Moray’s wonderful scenery and landscapes remain as popular as ever with visitors.
“We’re delighted this festival is continuing to grow and these beautiful gardens are sharing their passion for these beautiful flowers.
“Now is the perfect time of year to get out and about to explore our great outdoors.”
The Scottish Rhododendron festival runs until May 31 and comprises more than 90 events across the country.
