Dozens of aspiring musicians are receiving special tuition on Speyside from stars of the Scottish folk scene.
Yesterday’s session marked the start of the sixth Fochabers Fiddle Week, with the enthusiasts due to receive teaching sessions over the coming days.
Jack Smedley, who is originally from Cullen and tours with the band Rura, created the event after fearing that the popularity of folk was on the decline in the area.
He has invited Mike Vass and Gillian Frame to add to this year’s teaching talent.
Mr Smedley said: “I think it’s fair to say that about a decade ago, for a period of time, things did quieten down as a generation of us moved away to do our own things.
“It’s nice to see that the area is flourishing once again with so much going on and players coming through the school set-up.”
