Hundreds of people flocked to Keith yesterday for the first ever outing of the Friendly Fest music festival.
The name was intended as a tribute to the town’s reputation for friendliness and visitors certainly got into the spirit as they gathered in Kynoch Park.
Tribute act The Complete Stone Roses, Chris Helme of The Seahorses and Tommy Scott from Space entertained the crowds at the event.
And local acts Sons of the Soil, Gordon James and the Power, Sub Zero, Frosted Vault and Sean Gordon also performed.
Rick Witter from Shed Seven was also booked in for a DJ set.
The event was run by Digital Love Events, which has staged the Enjoy festival at Aberdeen’s Hazlehead Park for the past four years.
Organiser Russell Aitchison hailed the festival as a success.
He said: “It was really good numbers for a first year.
“There were a lot of people who had never been to Keith before.
“We have had people come from all over, from places like Aberdeen, Inverurie, Insch, Huntly, Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Dufftown.
“There was a clear interest in an event like this.”
And he said he was planning to build on the success of the festival and organise another event for next year.
He said: “We like to start the events small and build them up.
“We will listen to feedback and try to make it better.”
