A celebrity DJ who had an affair with the wife of a north-east businessman has died.
Last year it emerged that Mike Ramsay, a company director from Elgin, had been “funding” his wife’s affair with millionaire Mark Vanderpump.
Mr Ramsay, 60, paid for trips to London for tens of thousands of pounds worth of plastic surgery for his 35-year-old wife Gemma.
When he appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court charged with behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in connection with a row the couple had at Inverness Airport, he claimed that he paid £70,000 for two breast augmentations and four operations on her nose.
But he said he knew Mrs Ramsay, former wife of The Office star Patrick Baladi, had become involved with Mr Vanderpump – brother of reality TV star Lisa – as she travelled back and forth to London for the cosmetic procedures.
He said that he would rather have had an “adulterous wife” than separate, and was ultimately found not guilty after a trial where both gave evidence.
Yesterday, Mr Vanderpump’s family confirmed that he had died at his home in Gloucestershire at the end of last month aged 59.
He was believed to haver died of a suspected overdose.
His sister, who stars in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, is understood to be travelling to the UK for his funeral.
She said: “This has come as a shock to us all, he was my only sibling and I am shocked and saddened by his passing.
“I am trying to be supportive to his two young sons that he has left behind, and help them get through this tragedy.”
Mr Vanderpump had reportedly offered to resurrect Gemma Ramsay’s career as a model when the pair began their romance.
Mr and Mrs Ramsay ended up in court after she asked for more money for Botox injections and treatment to her lips, and his refusal sparked a bitter spat in Mr Ramsay’s Porsche.
The court heard that, on October 12, 2016, Mr Ramsay suggested Mr Vanderpump did not pay for anything – and his wife then compared the two men’s sexual prowess.
His lawyer, Matt Jackson, said: “This was nothing more than the sad breakdown of a marriage played out in court.”
Sheriff Charlotte Coutts found Mr Ramsay not guilty of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
