Police investigating a potential kidnapping in Moray have revealed more details about a man who tried to lure a trio of children into his car.

Officers say he approached three primary school pupils in Edinville, near Aberlour, at around 1.20pm on Sunday afternoon.

It has been claimed the man told the youngsters that their mother had “asked him to take them to Linn Falls”, a beauty spot roughly one mile away, in the red Suzuki Swift he was driving.

He has been described as slim with grey hair and round glasses and also had a small dog with him in the car.

Detective Sergeant Andy Wilson said: “We would like to trace the driver of the red Suzuki Swift as he may be able to assist us with our enquiries to establish the full circumstances.

“The vehicle was seen driving on the unclassified road between the A95 and B9009, passing the Benrinnes Distillery and turning at Shenval Cattery, where it was lost to view.”

Officers believe that he would have driven past a vintage car rally which was being held at Balindalloch Castle at the time.

Det Sgt Wilson added: “This also leads me to appeal for any drivers or passengers of the vintage cars to get in touch if they recall seeing a red Suzuki Swift that day, or indeed if any of the drivers have dashcam or video footage that we could review to help identify the vehicle.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101.
