A Moray care home has been ordered to make urgent improvements following an inspection.
Last month, the Press and Journal revealed that Sypnie Care Home in Elgin was being investigated by Health and Social Care Moray.
Now details of the issues at the home, on Duffus Road, have emerged in an improvement notice.
Inspectors were concerned that the physical, emotional and psychological needs of the residents were not being met in a way that respected their wishes.
There were also problems with how well the staff were trained for dealing with continence, nutrition, pressure ulcer prevention and stress related illnesses and with how service users’ health, safety and wellbeing was dealt with.
The inspectors questioned whether residents were being treated with enough dignity.
None of the concerns raised relate to allegations of physical abuse or criminal activity.
A spokesman for the Care Inspectorate said: “Everyone in Scotland has the right to safe, compassionate care which meets their needs and respects their rights.
“When inspectors visited this care home recently they found the quality of care experienced by residents to be unacceptable.
“The improvement notice lists three important aspects of care which must improve swiftly, so that people experience a standard of care they have a right to expect.
“We will continue to support this service and will visit again, unannounced, to check on progress. If we are not satisfied that the matters raised are being addressed urgently we will not hesitate to take further action.”
Spynie has a deadline of August 24 to implement these changes, with further unannounced inspections due to take place after that date.
Owned by Intobeige Ltd, the nursing home is not taking in any new admissions until the Care Inspectorate and Health and Social Care Moray are satisfied all issues and concerns have been dealt with.
A spokesman for Health and Social Care Moray said: “We have begun the process of contacting relatives and will work closely with all parties to address the concerns and to ensure the ongoing wellbeing of all residents.”
