He is known for running the lines at football matches across Europe.
And although he has had to give up hopes of refereeing at the World Cup while also being MP for Moray, Douglas Ross wasted no time in offering advice to world-class athlete Usain Bolt.
Mr Ross bumped into Bolt ahead of last night’s Unicef Soccer Aid match, in which the record-breaking runner was taking part alongside the likes of Michael Owen, David Seaman, Gordon Ramsay, Brendan Cole, Robbie Williams and Olly Murs.
He revealed last night that he had given Bolt “tips on beating the offside trap, just incase he struggles for pace.”
Mr Ross said he was delighted to support the match, adding: “Soccer Aid is a fantastic way to raise money to help some of the most vulnerable children around the world.
“It says a lot about the charity that so many sports stars and celebrities want to take part in this match for such a great cause and I’m delighted that the UK Government had agreed to match the funds raised through Soccer Aid this year, meaning Unicef can make double the difference to the lives of children who need our support around the world.”
