Speyside residents have been urged to take advantage of extra bus services in the area or risk “losing them”.
Stagecoach is trialling a route linking seven distilleries in the area as part of its connections from Elgin to Dufftown.
The experiment, which runs until August 12, was inspired after a surge in passengers during the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival.
As part of the trial, hourly trips are also being run on Sundays on the number 36 service.
The project has been backed by the Malt Whisky Trail and yesterday Speyside Glenlivet councillor Derek Ross encouraged passengers to take advantage of the improvements.
He said: “It’s very welcome to see Stagecoach looking at improving services in the area.
“It’s only part of a trial though so people should really be making the most of it. It’s a case of use it or lose it.
“There are wider concerns about evening services too which need to be addressed.
“There’s still no bus out of Elgin to Speyside after 6.30pm, which is quite early for a lot of people.”
