Six people were injured yesterday following a two-vehicle collision which left a car on its roof in a field.
Emergency services were called out to the accident on the A95 Keith to Banff road at the junction to Rothiemay just after 8am.
Three people were initially trapped in their vehicle and two of the casualties – a 24-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman – were taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin for treatment.
The collision involved a silver Vauxhall Corsa and a dark blue Mitsubishi Shogun.
The road was closed in both directions for three hours whilst emergency services cleared the carriageway. The Corsa ended up on its roof in a field at the side of the road after going down an embankment.
Police said no-one was severely injured, despite the extensive damage.
Two fire engines from Keith and Rothes were dispatched to the scene, but did not need to help free anyone from a vehicle as they had all got out of the cars by the time the crews arrived.
A police spokeswoman confirmed the road was reopened at 11.45am.
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they attended the accident and gave first-aid to one of the casualties who was sitting inside a vehicle.
The road was closed and traffic was diverted through Rothiemay while emergency crews were at the scene.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeman said: “We received a call at 8.19am about a road traffic accident on the A95 near Keith.
“We sent two accident and emergency ambulances. We conveyed a 24-year-old male and a 62-year-old male to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin.”
