A group of Moray fundraisers are aiming to boost a charity with a personal link to the community.
The Hollywood Glam Dinner and Dance has been organised by a group of eight Buckie women who want to amass funds for the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI) oncology research fund.
One of the organisers, Kirsty Munro, said that the choice to fundraise for the fund came from personal experience.
She added: “It was a personal choice to involve the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary oncology research fund this time around for funding.
“We’ve had a lot of local people affected by cancer and have had to use the centre, so that’s why we chose them.”
This is the second event the group has hosted, after organising a coffee morning in September 2016 which raised £23,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The new function, which will take place on Saturday, July 21 at Buckie’s Fisherman Hall, is a dinner and dance fundraiser, which has already sold out with about 200 guests expected.
Mrs Munro is looking forward to the night and has been delighted by the response.
She added: “We’ve had food donations from numerous local companies, like the butchers and greengrocers. Other organisations have sponsored the meal courses as well, so the starters and main course will be covered by them.
“Current Affair, one of the top wedding bands in the area, will be performing and a professional chef, Jamie Sutherland has donated his services and will be cooking for us.”
The event starts at 7pm and will end at 12.30am.
