Three appliances – one each from Elgin, Lossiemouth and Forres – were called to Roseisle Forest, just south of Burghead, at about 3.30pm. A water carried from Buckie was also sent to the scene. A fire service spokeswoman said the fire covered a 200ft-wide area of undergrowth and woodland at its height. She said the flames were extinguished by about 4.30pm and that firefighters have stayed on scene to dampen down the area. No one was hurt as a result of the fire.
