Fans of all clubs have been invited to celebrate the life of Highland League legend Sandy Stables at his funeral on Thursday.
The former Keith chairman spent nearly half a century running his beloved hometown team and was known as one of the competition’s most popular characters.
He died on Friday, on the eve of the new Highland League season, following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Now well-wishers and friends of Mr Stables have been invited to pay their respects to the Keith stalwart at his funeral, due to take place at North Church in Keith at 11am.
Highland League fans are invited to take part and are requested to wear their club ties.
Numerous senior Scottish football figures have paid tribute to Mr Stables, with SFA President Alan McRae describing him as “a true one-off”.
He said: “Sandy was a stalwart of football in the Highlands and was a respected voice in a variety of roles for the Scottish FA for over 25 years.”
Mr Stables spent 28 years as a Scottish FA councillor and only stepped down as Keith FC chairman in 2014 when he assumed the role of honorary president.
The main stand at Kynoch Park was renamed in his honour when he stepped down from the team’s committee.
Highland League President Raymond Cardno said: “Sandy was a huge advocate of Highland League football and staunchly fought its corner at the SFA.
“He was held in high esteem as a football administrator but also as a thoroughly decent man.”
