A former Moray cinema has been given a new lease of life after being transformed into a wellness centre.

SFEAR Kickboxing, Health and Fitness are the new owners of 44 Queen Street in Lossiemouth, a building with a varied and unique history.

The location used to be home to Regal Cinema back in the 1950s and then became the premises of Grampian Furnishers, one of the North of Scotland’s favourite family furniture stores for over 40 years.

However, it has now undergone another face-lift and is now home to a wellness centre that includes a gym, therapy rooms and a martial arts area for the kickboxing firm to continue to run their classes.

It is now called Forty Four and Jill Fletcher, director of the business is hoping to become a popular business in Lossiemouth.

She said: “I wanted to create a wellness hub that would help people not only physically but mentally as well by offering the full range of services that they would need.

“We offer holistic therapy, a gym, hypnotherapy, a beautician, a hair salon, a free weights gym, a cycling studio, basically anything that can give people a confidence boost and inspire them to reach their goals.

“The services we offer are hand-picked and deliberately designed to be a one-stop shop people can come in and feel good about themselves mentally and physically.”

Sfear kickboxing will also be based in Forty Four after previously running out of an old bingo hall on Baker Street.

They outgrew that premises after reaching capacity with the amount of people they could train.

Sfear have a renowned reputation as a martial arts group, and currently boast three world champions.

Mrs Fletcher is also aiming to support local companies by renting out space in the three-storey building to six separate businesses.

She said: “We want to offer something bespoke and fit-for purpose services to everyone in the Lossiemouth community and beyond.

“We have already had lots of comments about how there is nothing else like this in Moray.”
