Organisers of Burghead’s Boxing Day swim have estimated that this year’s fundraising total could reach more than £13,000.
A total of 105 swimmers jumped off the quayside at the village’s harbour for the festive tradition to cross the exit of the port.
Now organisers have revealed that more than £10,000 from fundraisers has already been collected with more still to come.
It is expected to be late January before a final total from the bracing event is confirmed.
Money raised from this year’s swimmers will be donated to Burghead’s parent and toddlers group, the village’s coastal rowing club and Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation.
Jamie Campbell, president of the organising committee, has paid tribute to groups that contribute to the organisation of the swim, including the divers and Coastguard teams that ensure it can go ahead.
He added: “For many it was an emotional day and for many it was a very happy day.”
