A group of worshippers in Moray have been overwhelmed with letters of goodwill following a terrorist attack.
The Elgin and District Islamic Mosque received support from across the region in the days following the killings in New Zealand which left 50 dead.
Now the group has thanked the local community for its solidarity and support following the atrocity.
Flags have also been flown at half-mast by Moray Council this week as a mark of respect.
A statement from Elgin and District Islamic Mosque said: “We would like to thank the many people, friends and neighbours who have sent messages of goodwill, flowers, cards and letters of sympathy.
“It is very heartening to be included in the community in which we lie and to work together and to treat it as home.
“We are one community with common values of integrity and value of human life. Any act of terrorism by one individual will not change our opinion of the many lovely caring people out there.
“Well done Moray, we salute you.”
