The threatened closure of their local swimming pool has inspired a group of Moray children to raise awareness of how much they value the facility.
The Frog Squad from Keith Primary School was devastated when the town’s pool was at risk of shutting down earlier this year.
A “call to arms” was issued by families in the area in order to try and reverse the proposal from Moray Council as part of budget saving plans.

Colourful banners were made to show their love for the swimming pool and when it was saved following an overwhelming response from the public the children rejoiced at the news.
Now eight determined youngsters, aged six and seven years old, who are all still learning to swim are preparing to dive into the water to show how much the sports centre is valued – to ensure it never comes under threat again.
All of the young campaigners will contribute to a combined 200 lengths of the Keith pool as part of an endurance challenge to raise money for cancer charities Marie Curie and Macmillan and have already raised nearly £300 for the cause.
But mum Claire Webster, who works as a staff nurse at the town’s hospital and will be supporting six-year-old son Callum during the swimathon, hopes the event will also raise awareness of the pool’s popularity.
The 34-year-old said: “All of our children are learning to swim at the pool at different stages. When there was talk of the pool closing we just got together and thought about how awful it would be if it wasn’t there in the future.
“All of the kids have been really keen to do it, just to show how much it means to them and show what they’ve learned there.”
