UPDATE: 15:00: A waterbombing helicopter has been drafted into help combat four separate fires that have spread almost ten miles from a Speyside windfarm to Dallas.
The significantly large blaze has travelled about three miles today and is now located to the south-west of Dallas.
Residents of Forres have reported seeing large plumes of smoke filling the sky in the town as fire crews continue to battle the flames and get it under control.
A wildfire that started yesterday afternoon and spread to a Speyside windfarm has continued into a second day.
Fire crews worked through the night to get the blaze near to Paul’s Hill Windfarm in Knockando under control after four separate pockets of flames affected gorse and heather bushes there.
More than 50 firefighters and 12 engines currently remain on the scene battling the fire as it continues to move quickly through the Speyside countryside.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue spokesman said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 2.58pm on Sunday, April 21 to reports of a grass fire near Aberlour.
“More than 50 firefighters and 12 fire engines currently remain in attendance at Knockando, alongside a number of specialist resources, where crews are tackling a large wildfire.
“Crews will remain in attendance for some time as they work to extinguish the flames.”
