Police have said there was ‘no crime was committed’ after a woman from Moray claimed she robbed of more than a grand and left with facial injuries.
The theft happened within a property in the Keith Road area of Burghead on Thursday, 27 December.
Following extensive inquiries police have confirmed there was no criminality in the act.
A 48-year-old woman has been charged in relation to allegedly wasting police time and an alleged fraudulent scheme. She will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal and is anticipated to appear at Elgin Sheriff Court at a later date.
Detective Sergeant Andrew Wilson said: “A thorough investigation was carried out and it has been established that no crime was committed in relation to the robbery. We are grateful to the community for its support while enquiries were carried out.”
At the time, officers were hoping to trace a man described as wearing a blue ‘Puffa’ style jacket and his face partially obscured by the hood.
