A Moray man with learning difficulties has won an award after making a brave move to live out on his own.
Kyle Garden last year took the plunge and moved away from his family in Buckie to Elgin, where he has now living independently.
He uses a bike or walks to get about the town.
His efforts impressed judges at the 2019 Scottish Learning Disability Awards, who have given him the Skills and Learning accolade.
Social care charity Cornerstone helps to support Mr Garden, and have been impressed with his transition to independent living.
Gemma Taylor, project leader at Cornerstone, works closely with him and was full of praise for him.
She said: “Kyle’s journey has been a huge inspiration to the team at Wardend Place and Cornerstone as a support provider.
“Most days, he pushes us all to think differently about the support we provide and has encouraged a positive risk taking environment for all in the Moray branch.”
