Comic book superheroes has been chosen as the theme for a colourful fundraiser run by north-east military personnel.
The annual raft race organised by air crews posted to RAF Lossiemouth regularly raises thousands of pounds for local causes.
Yesterday the team behind this year’s event, which will be the 42nd running of the race, announced that characters from the DC and Marvel series of comics, including Batman, Superman and Spiderman, will be the theme for this year’s fancy dress competition.
Flight Lieutenant Ian Smith said: “2018’s raft race was incredibly well supported, with £2,400 raised for the chosen charities.
“This year we hope to match that and provide a really entertaining day for all the family.
“Our chosen charities for this year are Poppy Scotland, Cash For Kids and The Oaks Palliative Day Care Centre.
“It’s great that this event will support organisations helping local people.”
The race on the River Lossie attracts thousands to the town every year.
This year’s event will take place on Sunday August 18. Gates will open from noon, with the race begining at 2pm.
