Police in Moray have commenced a week-long operation to tackle the distribution of illegal drugs in the area.
Officers hope heightened and focused patrolling will reduce the sales of various controlled substances and be an effective deterrent against drugs being spread throughout the area.
Visible patrols, proactive inquiries and road checks are increased this week. Specialist officers, including dog handlers, have been enlisted to accompany officers.
These measures are a part of the force’s aim to eliminate the dangers of narcotics from the community. The police say they will continue to maintain in alliance with their partners to help the vulnerable whose lives have been afflicted by drug crime.
Sergeant Dave Cooper, who is leading the operation, said: “Increased, targeted action like this should send a very clear message that this type of illegal and harmful activity will not be tolerated and that we are committed to tackling the issue.”
