A body has been recovered from the River Spey at Garmouth, police have confirmed.
The emergency services have been in attendance for much of the day at the mouth of the river in the community of Garmouth.
No identification of the body has taken place yet.
A spokeswoman for the police said: “Officers were called to the River Spey at Garmouth at around 1.50pm on Tuesday, October 22, following a reported sighting of a possible body within the water.
“Emergency services attended the scene and a body was recovered from the water by rescue teams.
“Inquiries are ongoing to establish the person’s identity, and no further information will be given until their next of kin are aware.
“A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.”
