A colourful parade of superheroes, animals and ghoulish characters started the annual Halloween celebrations in a Moray town.
Pipers led the cavalcade through Elgin’s town centre on Saturday as part of an event aimed at boosting footfall for traders.
Spooky and gruesome activities were held throughout the day by the local business improvement district (Bid) to entertain youngsters.
Frightening costumes mingled with shoppers as children and families spread across the town centre to search for clues as part of a treasure hunt with games run on the Plainstones to let youngsters battle between each other.
Meanwhile, market stalls served food and drink to keep the crowds warm during the chilly afternoon with Elgin and District Pipe Band also providing entertainment.
Richard Cumming, chairman of Elgin Bid, said the event had had “plenty of participants” with caterers reporting they had almost sold out of sweet treats by the end of lunch.
