Staff at Moray mental health and wellness centre are inviting the community to say #PantsToPoverty by donating new underwear as part of a campaign.
The centre, located on Batchens Street in Elgin, is taking part in the campaign by Scottish charity Smalls for All.
The organisation raises awareness of women and children who face the daily struggle of living without basic necessities, such as underwear, due to extreme poverty.
Smalls for All collect donations of women and children’s underwear and then supply them to those in need in the UK and Africa.
The mental health charity Penumbra runs the Moray mental health and wellness centre, where they are appealing for locals to contribute brand new women and children’s sized pants and unused or “gently used” women’s bras towards the campaign.
Pauline Forbes, the centre’s support manager, said: “Here at the centre, we really feel that we’re at the heart of the local community and we’re here as a drop-off point for anyone wanting to donate items for the Smalls For All campaign.”
She highlighted the importance of these items of clothing that so many often take for granted and added: “We really hope as many people as possible will come together to get involved by saying #PantsToPoverty.”
“We know that mental health is linked to issues around poverty, so supporting Smalls for All seemed like a really simple way of getting involved in something positive.”
