Pupils at a Moray school are to be treated to a masterclass from the Russian State Ballet.
Premier dancers from the troupe are in Aberlour later this month to perform a collection of classical and contemporary ballet performances.
Among the soloists will be the prima ballerina of the Russian Ballet Polina Filippova and her partner Ilya Perepelkin, bringing something incredibly special to the north-east of Scotland.
A crowd is expected to pack Speyside High School’s assembly hall to watch the group and hear opera from some of the finest performers in Russia.
Students will get a close-up of the graceful moves and precise footwork of the ballerinas during a special preview in the afternoon.
Patricia Goodbrand, head teacher at Speyside High School, said: “We are delighted to welcome back the Russian State Ballet – one of the leading dance companies with an exciting performance that will surely bring excitement to our community.”
The performance is sponsored by Walkers Shortbread and tickets – priced at £6/£4 – are available from Speyside High School on 01340 871522.
Vitaly Mironov, president of Moscow’s Caledonian Club, has been developing ties with Aberlour since shortbread company Walkers sponsored the first Highland Games in Russia in 1997.
The event will take place on November 14.
