A man has been taken to hospital with serious injuries to his face following an attack in a Moray town centre.
Police believe the 56-year-old was assaulted by a group of men on Elgin High Street at about 2am this morning.
The victim was taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital for treatment following the serious assault.
Officers have now launched an appeal to trace a woman who may have witnessed the incident.
Sergeant Phil Wu said: “From our enquiries so far, we believe that there may have been a group of men in their 20s involved in the assault.
“A number of people would have been in the area at the time and we are particularly keen on speaking to a woman wearing a red dress or jumpsuit who may have witnessed this assault.”
Anyone with information should contact police by calling 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
