A special music event is being held this Friday at Elgin’s Town Hall to showcase local young talent in the area.
The event was organised to give young bands the opportunity to perform on the hall’s large stage and bring their music out of practice rooms and in front of the community.
The bands who will be performing on Friday evening are The Zebecks from Elgin Academy, Biblical from Lossiemouth High and the Blindside of Elgin High School. Students from the Moray Music Lesson group will also take to the stage.
Lossiemouth band The Roov, who Radio Scotland once named band of the week and recently supported Geno Washington, will be closing the evening.
Donald Squair, director of event for the hall and one of the organisers, said: “The Roov have done all that whilst living in Moray, so hopefully that will show our musicians in the area that you don’t have to leave to make a name for yourself and for local people to see that there are great musicians here.”
He added: “We hope young people can see where things could go with their music and it motivates them to carry on playing.”
Elgin’s town hall opens its doors at 6pm and the event is free to attend.
