Two Elgin schools have teamed up with a charity to record their very own Christmas song.
Living Streets, a UK-wide charity which aims to promote healthy activity such as walking to school, composed the lyrics for Walk For The World This Wintertime and asked the pupils of Gordonstoun School and Bishopmill Primary to produce the song and accompanying dance routine for the video.
Gordonstoun school’s music department provided the recording suite and facilities for the endeavour, before the video was captured at Bishopmill.
Schools and projects coordinator for Living Scotland, Chris Thompson, said: “The kids really enjoyed it and the great thing is they understand why this is important – as we’re talking about walking for the world and making sure they’re healthy and so is the planet.
“It’s a bit of fun but it also has a serious message about walking being part of the solution to a lot the problems the world faces.”
The children were joined in the video by Living Scotland’s mascot, a friendly orange “foot” called Strider, who stopped by during a winter tour of schools to put his best foot forward in the video.
Mr Thompson added: “I hope that everyone can share in the fun and the joy of walking, I think the message is that you can walk all year round – walking is not just for Christmas.”
