Community groups across Moray have been praised for their efforts to take ownership of town and village halls, as well as community centres, through an awards ceremony.
Moray Council held the event to honour the groups who have adopted closure-threatened facilities amid a series of budget cuts.
Each was awarded KeyStone accreditation, which recognises their ability to meet the legal and regulatory requirements for running buildings, including governance, managing money and resources and working with others.
Receiving the award yesterday were the new operators of the Cullen Community and Residential Centre, Findochty Town Hall, Buckie Fisherman’s Hall, Longmore Community Hall in Keith, and Elgin and Forres Town Halls.
Moray Council’s chief executive, Roddy Burns, said: “Congratulations to the groups receiving the KeyStone Award.
“This achievement is testament to the hard work and commitment of all involved in providing excellent facilities for communities across Moray.”
Groups taking on leases for halls and community centres earmarked for closure have been supported through the Keystone Awards by Moray Council’s community support unit.
