Organisers of Burghead’s Boxing Day swim are urging people to turn out in large numbers in support of the event.
The annual charity fundraiser invites locals to dive into Burghead harbour in support of three local charities.
This year’s effort to raise money for Kieran’s Legacy, Marie Curie and Burghead Sub Aqua Club.
In the years since it was launched, the popular Boxing Day dip has raised more than £250,000, with last year’s even alone bringing-in £20,000 in donations.

Despite several offers from donors to cover the charge, they declined on principle and considered cancelling the swim.
It is understood that although the event is now going ahead they will not pay the £100 to the council.
The team at Burghead are nonetheless excited for this year’s fundraising event.
It will offer raffles, hot food and drink, a children’s lucky dip and a chance to win a whiskey hamper worth £200 alongside the opportunity to test the temperature of the harbour water.
Those partaking in the event are invited to register at the harbour office from noon, with the swim to begin at 2.30pm.
Burghead Boxing Day Swim president Jamie Campbell said: “We hope the public will come and support us as they always do and help us raise as much money as possible.
“If you have never been or jumped in, but have always thought about it, then maybe this is the year you should take the plunge.”
