A Lochaber councillor has issued a heartfelt plea to Highland residents and visitors not to drink and drive, or take drugs and drive.
Fort William and Ardnamurchan councillor Niall McLean said as a dad-of-two, he felt compelled to issue the reminder about Scotland’s zero tolerance approach to drink and drug driving this festive season.
Mr McLean said: “Highlanders and visitors to the Highlands should be aware of the criminal and personal consequences of drink or drug driving this festive season and those who do this put not only themselves but passengers and other road users at risk of serious injury or even death.
“Plan ahead during the party season, think about how you’re going to get home safely and don’t forget about the next day effects that alcohol can still have the morning after.”
