One person dead following ‘serious’ crash involving bus on Moray road

One person has died and others were injured in a crash between a car and a Stagecoach bus in Elgin earlier today.

The accident happened at around 9.42am at the junction between West Road and Morriston Road on the A96.

Two others were also rushed to Dr Gray’s following the accident.

Four ambulances and a paramedic unit were deployed whilst fire crews freed an occupant from the car using specialist cutting equipment.

Police closed the road until the evening.

A spokeswoman said: “We received a call following reports of a collision involving a bus and a small vehicle on the A96 at the West Road and Morriston Road junction in Elgin.

“The road is currently shut and a diversion is in place.

“We can confirm the serious road crash is a fatal as one person has now died.”

The next of kin are still being contacted.

The road has now reopened.
